My girlfriend and I made a promise to each other: Once we left Boston we would both move to whichever city one of us found a job in first. The winning city was Asheville, North Carolina. The winning partner was her.

Two weeks after we arrived North Carolina locked down under a quarantine order and the job market FROZE. This forced me to be creative about how to make a living.
